  found mostly  blankets + flour

  also some sugar chewing tobacco

  + soap. We got some of the

  last three things + then after

  our relief arrived we went

  to No 4 where McDonald is

  guarding .We talked him round

  + went to our billets loaded 

  with milk jam + smoking

  tobacco . Our food was very

  poor + hardly any tobacco the

  fellows going round picking

  up my butts they issue us

  tobacco once a week sometimes

  6 men  to one can of prince

  albert tobacco. I was humming

  with  Azrive  + we stole all the

  eatables we could + with the

  blackberries we picked we eat
