Aug 22nd 1918 Had band
out this morning instead of
bugle for first call. Every
one jumping around + singing
as the band marched round
playing. We're going over,
+ Over There. Cleaned everything
up this morning. Sitting around
all afternoon + making our
packs up good, waiting for
the word for us to go.
Had lots of fun after supper
with some niggers just coming
in from Alabama. throwing
there straw up + kidding them
About 9 o'clock the band came
round + we were dancing on
the tables + anywhere. Orders
to fall out came about 11 o'clock
+ after making sure everybody
