And rushed back into there huts. (we must
be terrible fellows) recieved news that now
we have to go on Sunday
Thurs Feb 4 1915
Had another Bathe in the River. To day
there arrived about 100 mules for Transport
to carry goods food ammunition etc on the
expedition & then had the glorious news that I
had to go to on guard and this is no nice
job in a country like this it was dark you
could not see 5 yards in Front and you don’t
half get a fright when you come upon a native
very sudden and can see nothing except the white
of his eyes and you meet them at every
corner and of course you have to
chase them off the Barrack grounds. It is no
use trying to catch them if they have come
to steal as they come stripped naked & their
body’s covered in grease and I for one was more
than pleased when daylight came once more but
