To day we are leaving Mandalay we were

out of bed by 5-30 & of course had all packed

up the day before as we had not much work

except packing everything on to mule wagons

& were ready to leave about 11-30 we were

then marched away to the station we were

very pleased that we were going back by

train instead of walking as we did when we

came to Mandalay.  We left Mandalay station

about 1-o-clock & arrived at Maymyo about

6 o-clock. It was quite dark when we arrived

& then we had to march to the camp which is

about 1 mile on the far side of the Barracks &

about 2 ½ miles from the Station by this time it

had started to rain & we were simply drenched

when we arrived at the camp we had to unpack

the mule carts & everything kit bags

overcoats etc were all dropped down into the

wet & slush don’t know how we will ever

get them clean again as they seem simply

ruined. But anyhow in about 1 hours time
