To day I have been sent to act as Fort
Guard. This is a Guard over a very large
magazine inside the Fort. The Fort as I
have already said is a large stretch of
land surrounded by a massive brick wall
this wall will be about 14 ft high & 37 in
thick & goes all around the Fort a distance
of over 6 miles. When once through the
gates it is hard to believe that one is
inside as it is just one vast stretch of
country but inside is some of the most interesting
sights to be seen in Burmah. One strange
thing is that no matter what it is wether
large or small Building it is surrounded by a
moat. Inside is placed most of the Cannon
which were used when Burmah was captured
from the Burmese. There is also a very large
palace inside the Grounds which was
originally the Residence of King Theobald who
was the last king of Burmah. It is very
interesting to look through this Palace.
