chief morner was dressed up in all kinds of

rags, face very dirty & hair very dishevelled &

made to look as though she had just gone

mad.  After that came the Friends & relations all

screaming & moaning pittiously like we thought

it quite a pleasure after they had all passed.

 

Sat Feb 27 1915

 

To day I witnessed one of the most

terrible storms I have every seen. The Rain

came down in one sheet for about twelve

hours without ever abating & the lightning

was every few seconds all the time the rain

was coming down. The lighting just seemed to

completely open the heavens & although terrible I

must say that it was most lovly.

To day we had to be out of Bed or

rather I should say off the floor by 4-30

as to day we leave Myitkyina for Maymyo
