Old year’s night the last day of 1914 & am
not sorry as this has been the worst year
I have ever experienced. To Day there was
another run only this time 7 miles instead
of 5. I myself managed to get out of
this run as to day I am on sick. To
night we all put some money together &
had a whist drive & Light Refreshments. We
spent a most Enjoyable evening & after some
very exciting play The Prizes were awarded to
1st Sergt. Cotton 2nd Pvt Gould & Booby
Prize to Colour Sergt. Robinson. We had songs
Etc until midnight when we all joined
together in singing Auld Lang Syne &
so we finished the old year & was not
sorry to finish it. I will now cross out
1914 & Hope 1915 will be more happy
& prosperous that’s the last & hope before many
more weeks are over we will be able
to say. Peace on Earth Goodwill towards
