where all the poor fellows can be placed. We were very
sorry to hear about Wesley B. poor little fellow he has only
been out a few weeks. Mrs. Barrow Fish says Franky is
wounded (only slightly) & is in hospital at Bologne.
I don't think you need to be in a hurry to go out soon if
you do top the list with the Lewis gun. still you would
be one more to push back the enemy, and I can see the
old spirit to conquer is still alive. Every one seems to
think that right must prevail over might in time, but it certainly
looks as if might is victorious at present. (old pessimist)
You won't be getting home yet a bit, I expect you are kept
back to train another lot now you have lost your Platoon.
It's a bit rough on you, but no doubt you are the right instructor
for new beginners. however Elsie is home all the week
so between us we may endeavour to get your room
ready for occupation. Dad & I are keeping the bed and
Elsie met Mr. Carrington this morn. He had heard from Horace
who is now working in a farm & exerting good influence upon
all the men with whom he comes in contact so his Dad
is well pleased. We went downto see Mrs. Carrington a week
or so since & took her a few Camilias for your sake.
We are promised a taste of the marmalade she was making
when next we go. The lovely kitten is a full sized cat &
still playful. We put him through the rug like you used
