to poor old cat. Nothing much has happened here this

week, except that on Monday morn about 10 o'clock I had

a visit from Auntie Alice & Marjorie & Bertie's  baby. They

had come up to Highbourn to bring the girl Whitehouse to her school

& came across to see us. They stayed the day so that they

could see Elsie & Elsie see the baby. He is a dear little fellow

& was not at all shy. Made friends with us all. Bertie

was unable to come because of a sprained ankle. She still

goes to business with Jan at the War Office. Auntie does the

housework, cooking etc. & minds the baby. (a cheap servant)

Uncle has been very poorly. had 2 or 3 days in bed but is back

at work again. He takes the 4:50 am train up & returns

at 6:30 pm a somewhat long day. We are going down to

Bromford to-morrow afternoon if it is fine. On Good Friday

we went to tea & supper! Free! with the Bourns & spent a

pleasant evening. Dad & Mr. Bourn Mrs. B & I Elsie & Sadie

so we chummed up alright. got home about 11 pm. missed

the last bus at Junction N so footed it. We had no hot cross

buns. You were certainly favoured. I made some queer buns this

morning. you were to have had a consignment. but instead

of using ground rice, I used gelatine. could not get the

stuff to mix, then it wouldn't bake & last of all I had to

dig them out of the tins. I had made them extra  gross  too

plenty of fat - 2 eggs (4 1/2 each) & much milk - so don't feel
