and by this time we were able to Write
home for a cake and a tin of Milk
but they had not started arriving
yet anyway we had a Pleasant 2 Day
stay here and then we moved off
again on he March this time
it was a 25 Kilometer March to the
Next stopping place over cobbled
Roads all the way and carrying
our fall kit it was a very tiresome
March we arrived at a Place called
St Hillare another Village in the
Mining District of Northern Flanders
and here we were Put in old Barns
and the Bats oh dear it was alive
with them as soon as you laid down
at night they would be running all
over you and squeelling all night
Long and they would run along the
rafters and fall on your face we
stayed here for 4 nights having
Inspections and Parades and Making
sure we had still got our Iron Ration
Specially the Biscuits which had now
to be put together like a jig saw
puzzle o see whether they were all
there one Fellow had one short and
he got 4 Days First Field Punishment
which meant being tied to a Wagon
Wheel for 2 Hours a Day Legs and
Arms stretched out and Tied to the
spokes of the Wheel so it made
you very careful about losing them
