have a nice time being in a small Town
Thanks to Fritz we were just forgetting
this little accident we had been here
2 Days when we had Orders to go up the
Line again in a Section of the Line
known as Givenchy which Laid to the
right of La Basse but when we got
there after about 4 Hours March we
had the shock of our Lives as the
Regt which we were going to relieve were
straggling out of the Trenches with
there Eyes out of their Heads Shell
shock and Fright they had had a
Terrible hiding by Fritz with High
Explosive shells and had knocked
half the Regiment out the consequences
were that when we got in the Line there
was nobody to relieve as they had all
came out who could get out so we knew
we were in for a Basin Full of Trouble
Here little did we no we had to go over
the Top here very allright with a few
casualty but Later on in the Evening
it got very bad a s the Germans were
shelling us with a very High Explosive
Shell called Lyditi and we were in
a sort of a Basin being shelled from
Every Direction we soon had a lot
of Casualty including 2 officers killed
and several wounded it meant that
we Either had to go over the rop and
straighten the Line or retire back
a Little to stoppe the ... fire
