Kenneth Daddy often gathers
sticks for the fire out here. It
is not a very difficult job
where all the houses have been
blown into little bits. Fancy
him rolling up that wire - it
must have been very amusing.
Ta Darling for telling me
such a lot about Kenneth's
doings - pity he cannot write
& tell me all about his
Mommy.
Glad to hear that Mother is
keeping pretty well. Give her my
love & tell her to look after
herself well.
Well Darling I want you to
be happy & comfortable & to
please yourself but I really
think you are better at home
& with Maud & John instead
of at Grantham & if the Balls
want to stay for some time I should
right side
let them. Even if you do go
back you must go away for
several holidays. Kenneth would
love some days by the seaside
when the weather is warm enough.
Yes Lassie the weeks are
long that's why I want you
to have a good time so that
the time will pass the more
quickly, till I join you again.
People may say you are
lucky but what do they know.
I know you are brave & plucky
to keep smiling but I should
be miserable if I thought
you were not having as good
a time as possible. Let my
whiskers grow - yes when it is
impossible to shave. You would
have laughed to have seen us
all the morning we got here. It
was four or five days I think since
any of us had had either a wash
