  My Own Darling Wife,

    Last night I was lucky to

  discover a bed in the village + so got

  away from our hut. I suppose really

  I ought to have stuck to the hut to

  get hardened - but I thought I might

  as well be comfy as long as I could.

    We are not having too bad a

  time and are not moving until Monday.

  After our first day's march I think we

  shall be at Brigade Reserve for

  two days before taking over our share

  of the front line. My Company with

  two others will be in the front line +

  support trenches, which are at present

  half full of either mud or water. Four

  or five days may however make a

  wonderful difference + neither the mind

  nor the water is liable to worry us until

  we actually get to them. I have not

  had a letter yet but expect to get a
