  at night when the Boche cannot

  see the smoke. I am also the

  fortunate possessor of three

  chairs which came out of the

  wreck of a farm. There is no

  village near to attract the

  Boche shells so he has to

  scatter them over the country.

  I suppose his gunners are 

  full of hope when firing

  as they cannot watch the

  effects they cannot get very 

  disappointed. We are just

  having a summer shower & 

  lay the dust only I don't 

  think it will be quite long 

  enough for that

  dust to mind. One is only a

  nuisance & the others
