All the time the service was in progress
it could just be heard in the church &
the effect was really beautiful. After wards
we were again marched back to
Barracks. The proceeding we conducted
by the Leuit. Col Aplin & the sight was
something that really must be seen to be
believed & was thoroughly enjoyed by
everyone present.
Aug 7 1915
To day had a trip to Mandalay a party
of us started away about 10- AM with the
full intention of having a good day sight
seeing. In the first place we went by tram car
to the Harrigan Pagado, at this place is a very
large gold God. Which is supposed to be real gold
but which I very much doubt as if this were so it
would be worth millions of pounds by the
side of it is another God very nearly the
same size and at this one you pay 4 annas
(4’) & you are given a small leaf of gold &
