impossible to describe the carving. This
building now is used as a home for the
priests who sleep in the very small cubicles’ & it
is very strange how they manage to sleep in
such a very small stuffy place.
I have here a very interesting statement to make
one that has come as a great surprise as we never
knew any thing about it untill we received a
note of thanks from Suez whilst on shore at
Suez. As I have stated in another part of this book
we were put up for the night in a convent &
when we were again on board the Descado we
made a collection for these people as a kind
of thanks for their Kindness. Well This money
was given to the offices to hand over but
instead of doing so, it was all sent to a
club in Suez that had put up the officers for
the night. In proof of this I am putting
here a copy of a letter sent acknowledging
this.
