Sun. Jan. 31 1915

Arrived Myitkyina about 9-o-clock & marched

to some native Barracks at least they were called

barracks but they were simply long sheds very

dirty & over run with rats & lizards for a

beginning we had a great meal of Bread & water

& then had to go back to station to guard the

baggage & ammunition which was brought to

the Barracks on Bullock carts. At night we had

nothing to sleep on except straw but we all

slept very hard as we are just about tired out.

Mon Feb 1 1915

To day we were very busy getting prepared

for opperations when we recieved a wire to

say that things were looking very serious & we

had to have ammunition served out (20 rounds

for each man) & ready to march away at a

moments notice every body very greatly

excited.
