the best anyway it was nothing serious the

colonel told the 3 of us how pleased he was

to have such Men in his Regt as the Work

we were seen doing from Observation of

going out Dressing the Wounded and

stripping the Dead of their Water Bottles

and feeding the Wounded and managing

to hold the Line against overwhelming

Odds after most had retired and Promised

us our Names would go in for an Honour

or if any Honour was given to anyone else

in the Regt we were Instrumental in getting

those Honours so we Left him in Great

anticipation of an Honour which never came

off but they went to all the company

Sergeant Major Instead but we were very

well satisfied to get out of it all after

a time here about a week we had to

make one Regt with another Regt who

had been smashed up so the 2 Regts in

one made about 250 of us to go up the

Line again so we went to a nice little

Town not far from here called Neux

Les Mines where we got served out with

all New Clothing and Equipment as what

we had was done for with the Shell Fire

and Blood Stained we had an Inspection

here by the  General and he told us how sorry

he was that we caught such a Cold and hope

next time we went up we would have our

revenge for our Comrades who were killed

and Wounded we were now getting Letter

from home about the Battle as at our

Headquarter in London all the Wives and
