a very sad business Altogether as some of
the Poor Fellows Wives and Mothers and
Sweethearts had been Perhaps been saving up
to send these Parcels for Weeks as you could
tell by the Notes in them and a Packet of cigs
sent by there children with some very sad
notes and by the time they arrived the
men were no more or Else in Blighty
anyway we did not have much time to think
as we were To busy loading our Belly
and Putting the rest by for a Rainy day
as those Stunts dont come off every Day
so at night we had a very royal time
as we had a Pay day here and agourned to
the nearest Estament and Partook of
Plenty Vin Blance and had a good time
and when we came out at 9 o clock we
had a rare time as I got up in the Village
square and made a recruiting speech the
same as I imagined they did in London at
this time and cause I had to make the usual
collection so I was collecting cigarettes for
money I should think I had about 500 men
and women round me including all our Men
and a Lot of Officers anyway I amused them
all according to the Laughter and it made
us forget what we had been through as I
was unconcious of it all I had completely
forgotten about it now. The following Day
2 other men and myself were ordered to the
colonel Orderly Room I thought allow
did I say anything Wrong in my fun
or was I boozy the night before I did
not no what to think anyway I hoped for
