Prussian Guard fine big fellows they were
we rounded about 50 of them up and sent
them behind the Line as Prisoners thats
if they got Back safe we were in for some
fine Fun now as the Germans were now
trying to get us out and as quick as the chap
behind could Load our Rifles we were
Blazing away and knocking the German down
like Nine Pins and the fellows were
taking the nails out of the Bombs and
we were Slinging these as well they
were a very dangerous bomb the first ones
Issued as soon as the nail was taken out
you had to get rid of them very Quickly
and very often the nail fell out and caused
casualtys it was close by here were a
fellow from another Regt won the V.C.
as he stood on the Parapet fully
Exposed and Slinging bombs which
held the Germans up from taking our
trench as it was ours now anyway ot
was getting it up as a bad job and the
Guns got Quieter and the same with
the rifle fire as there was always a
Lull in the firing just as it was
getting Dark on Both sides unless
there was a big Stunt coming off I
think the Idea was getting the supplys
up the Line and as Food and Amunition
and I got releived from the fire step
by another Fellow
