get out I sat here for about an Hour
in the Blazing sun wondering how I was
going to finish up when an Officer came
along he was a Bvt MC Officer who had
Managed to get here somehow and he
came along giving the wounded Brandy
from a Flagon he said to me its all
right old Chap stay here until Dusk
and you are being relieved by another
Regt after Dark I said Thank God
being all alone in this he seemed to
put Fresh Life in me he offered me a
drop of Drink I refused as there were
so many I thought who needed it
round me he ask me if I had dressed
any wounded I said yes all these here
anyway he was not satisfying so he
had a go but it was too Late they
were all Dead now every one of
them and when he went away and left
me on my own again to wait for the
Relief about another 2 Hours until
Dark I shut my Eyes to Pray to God
to get me out of this either by Death
or otherwise I was properly Beaten
with nothing now as far as I could see
only Dead Body or Arms or Legs of
Someone I stuck this until we were
relieved by another Regt and a Sergeant
who came along told me to walk right
through and I would see a few of my Regt
and they would take or Lead us out it
was now Dark and the firing had
