  seat. The sky is a lovely 

  sun is shining, birds are singing

  & even the planes overhead look 

  peaceful. Now & again another 

  sounds - the rat-tat-tat-tat of the

  machine gun, the bang of shells

  or the whistle of a shell, 

  remind us that the war still goes

  on & the victory approaches.

    I am still very fit & well - the 
  

  sun keeps me tanned & I'll probably

  get real brown if I do not have

  to spend too much time in the 

  dug out when we get into the front

  line. Possibly in four days' time.
