My Own Dear Wife,
Yesterday we marched from
8 am to 4 pm with a useful
rest at midday. I believe it was
the hottest day we have had only
to-day matches it. It was almost too
hot to ride so you can imagine
what the men thought of it when
they were marching in full kit.
However we all got here safely
& then had to pitch tents. We could
almost imagine we were doing
the march to Tralee again. We do
not know how long we are staying
here but I think we shall have
to move nearer the Boche in a
day or two. I was very pleased to
get your loving letter last night
& to see that you were both well
& still enjoying life. The CO has
been much fitter lately than he was
at first. He has gone away on a
