My Own Darling Marion,
I am afraid you will think I
am rather neglectful in answering your
letters for several times lately I have a written
scrappy notes and promised to answer your
letter lately. I do enjoy getting your
letters - they are the best part of life out here
+ I get quite down-hearted when the post
arrives without a letter. We get settled
for such short periods and there are
many things that require doing at any
there so that when I sit down to spend a
long time with you, I am as often as
not called upon to do something else.
Last night when the major called he kept
me busy for an hour, then we had to
walk over to the next village + we were
there a further two hours. I was very late
for dinner + then had to get out a work
program for to-day only to find an hour
or so later that there was a route march for
to-day + later still came an order to march
