left side
about 3000 yards from here then
- not a very long march fortunately.
Of course the Boche might upset
our plans by going a little
nearer to Berlin, but we can
hardly know that in advance
Eight days after that we go back
again for a rest so unless the
unexpected happens we shall
have had a fairly soft time during
our present tour in the forward
area.
My men are all as cheerful
as they can possibly be. I think
we have had the roughest
times we are likely to experience
& it will be useful to look back
& say "Oh this isn't half as
bad as that time at so & so"
We are all getting hardened
warriors now & the fellows who
were not physically strong
enough for the job are most of
right side
them back in England. Underwood
is one of our cheeriest men. He is
always smiling & never seems to
get tired. Once or twice though he
almost got to the "far end."
You must read a lot of love
into this letter my Beloved for
I do love you & want to tell you
so ever so much. Many of the
things I don't tell you I am saving
up until I get back to England.
What a lovely time we shall have then.
Give my love to all. Tell Kenneth
I am sending him lots of love & kisses
All my thoughts are with you.
May all happy memories comfort you
May your desires come to pass. Heaps
of kisses Sweetheart & all my love
Your loving Husband
