  My Own Darling Marion,

    We are still enjoying the 
  

  most perfect weather. Blue sky and

  sunshine and nothing to disturb us.

  The planes buzz about in the sky

  with the pretty puffs of cotton wool

  all round them. The Boche now

  & again spoil the picture effect by

  using shells which burst into 

  black smoke instead of white. I had

  a walk yesterday & had a look at the 

  Hindenberg Line about which you

  read so much in the paper. It

  looks like being a tough to crack

  but of course one cannot tell

  how it will go when the crackers

  get to work. It is still a few

  yards away from us and if the

  sun keeps shining I guess we

  shall be warm when we get

  into trenches & dug outs (which don't

  exist at present) just in front of his wire
