like it. Our news of the war is very
scanty and vague but I understand
that the war still goes on. I am
enclosing some stamps that may be
of interest - they came on our new
tunics. Did I tell you that one
of my sergeants was wearing a
Daybrook Body Shield when he
stopped a piece of a "Fish tail" shell
the NCO says he would have lost
half his ribs but for the shield which
was dinted somewhat. One could get
a fist in the hollow which was
probably almost an inch deep. Guess
he is rather pleased in spite of all
the chaff he got, and also the
extra weight he "packed up"
to the line. We are a cheerful
crowd and the sun drying the
mud has enabled us to get
a little cleaner. I should not fancy
