My Own Darling Wife
We are having a day's
rest today after two days marching.
We did not stay very long in the
rest camp & marched out just before
dark to return. We averaged a little
over walking pace in the train & were
about seven hours behind our time
in arriving at a place where it
was arranged for us to draw hot
water for making tea. We had
expected to spend another night in
the train but instead of that we
arrived at our railhead in the
afternoon. We marched about three
miles to Billet. I got a bed
& had a good night's rest.
My cold had developed rather
too much & I was feeling very
washy, even after sleeping most of
the way in the train. Next day
