Bargain for hours at a stretch & the
the longer they bargain the better they
like it. We next proceeded through the
King's palace which I have already described
in this book. I may also say that just
out side of the Palace is a great scaffold
where they used to hang prisoners & in
full view of the palace the King sitting
on a kind of throne to watch the spectacle
& on the other side is what is called King
Mindoon's Tomb. It is a great square tower
very much like a small church & surrounded
by great iron railing. This is the tomb of
one of the greatest kings of Burma. King
Theobaw actually spelled Theebaw the last King of Burma is still
a prisoner in Bombay. It was the cruelty
of this king Theabaw which started the war
the result of which the British captured
Burma & took the King a prisoner but the
cruellest thing about his punishment is
that he is only allow 1 dozen wives &
what can a man do with only 12 wives
