  When war commenced with Germany well

  I had to do my bit

  I was thumped about by doctors & they

  pronounced me fit,  

  I was bundled off to Kendal as a dirty raw Recruit

  They dished me out a Rifle & a bran new

  Kahki suit.

  They dressed me like a soldier in fact I felt a Krut

  But where do you think in all the world my

  Regiment was put
