We are now in the midst of the Rainey

Season & I must say they don’t call it the wet

season for nothing. The Rain here simply pours

down day in & day out without ceaseing

the Fields are just one immense swamp &

when ever you go out you are over your

ankels in water & mud. It is not surprising

where all the desease comes From when one

sees how the water rests on the land &

the stench that arrises from it. But like

every thing else we are getting used to it.

                         -------------------

On the next page I take the opportunity of

copying a Song which has been written &

composted by Lieut. Hope of the 4th Border

Regiment.
