was being built, the natives knew nothing

about cranes & lifts. After leaving this

place we went to have a look around

the native village.  Here we saw the Burmese

in absolutely the savage state boys & girls

running about absolutely naked & men & women

with only just a small loin cloth & all

living huddled up together just like a lot of

cattle, we were not sorry to get away from

here as the stink was something awful. After

having about 2 hours on shore we again

went on board the boat & continued our

journey once more up the River I cannot

say how many miles we went as I cannot

find out the speed the boat was travelling

but we began our return journey about 5 o-clock

and arrived again at Mandalay at about

8-o-clock we then again boarded the

trams which were waiting for us, we travelled

as far as the trams could take us & then

boarded the quaris which were waiting

for us & arrived back at Barracks about

10-o-clock after having spent a very

Good day.
