As Mandalay is now in bounds I will

try to discribe what I have seen there. As

usual it is very much like all the town here

as far a dirt & smell are concerned. The town

in itself is not a bad place & have been

very much modernized, there are electric trams

& electric lights in the street. There is here

also a very large Bazaar one of the largest

I have seen yet, I think inside it seems to

contain hundreds of small shops where you

seem to be able to buy almost anything.

but the chief thing I think in Mandalay is

what is called the Harrigan Pagoda this is

truly a marvelous building but is hardly

worth discribing  as inside it is just like

all the Rest, just one small place with a

God in the centre. Outside this Place is a

very large Lake in which are thousands of

fish of all kinds. There are also natives who

give you small dishes filled with Rice &

then after you have given this to the
