To day as I have said on the last page
we started away at two o-clock if we
expected anything to eat before we started
we were disappointed as we had to stay
without. It was far better marching
during the night as it is not quite so
very hot but it is very akward on a
strange road in the dark when you
can’t see where you are going. I cannot
say anything about the first stage of the
march as it was to dark to see anything
but anyhow after we had done 7 miles
we were met by a cart from
R.A.T.A. & each man had a mug of
limejuice & a bun & on this we had
to march 14 miles. About this time
day was beginning to break & I reackon
we were about 5 miles then from Mandalay
& the first sight of it we saw was
the Hospital for Leprosy. I think this
is about the largest I have ever seen
