To day we started on our second stage of the

journey, we rose at 5-o-clock breakfast at 6

and moved away at 7 – C Company to day being

on the advance guard. The Roads Dust etc were

similar to the First day journey. Instead of

doing 10 miles as on the first day To day it

was 13 miles & when we arrived at the end of

the day march every man was just about

done up. We again slept with the stars

as a roof & when you get used to it it is

not bad as long as the weather keeps fine

We had to start about 1 hour in front of the

Battalion the object of an advance guard is to

clear all natives etc of the Road to make a

clear passage for the Transport & Battalion to

pass. As usual we reached the end of the Second

days journey done up & had the pleasure of

finding a good stream where we could have

a good bathe we then had a good feed

& felt alright again at night we had

a camp fire concert which we all enjoyed
