States when they were sent to quell what
they thought was just a small rising but
which has turned out more serious than
expected, they have had to send back
for reinforcements & we are all expecting
to have to go at any minute hope it
won’t be long in coming anything to
break this monotonous life.
Sat Jan 23 1915
To day we had another route march
this time we had to go just short of 20
miles again in full marching order & when
we did get back we were all more dead
than alive. After dinner we had to parade
for some more Indian clothing we were
fitted with 2 pairs boots 2 pairs trousers
1 coat 1 sweater & 1 cap if we go on much
longer at this rate I don’t know what we
are going to do with all our clothing as it
is impossible to wear them all out unless
the war lasts about 5 years.
