very difficult to climb but when you get to

the top I think there is one of the grandest

views I have ever seen. Looking one way it is

quite easy to see the Chinese Border. On the other

side it is quite easy on a clear day to see the

sea. To day I had my bed taken to pieces by one

of the natives this consists of opening the bedding

& pillow (which is filled with cocoanut hair) & placing

it on the floor they bray it with sticks & pull it

to pieces then place it in the clean bed cover &

sew it up. For this we have to pay them 4 annan

(4°) but it is quite worth it as it takes about 2

hours to do.

Monday received word that there is a

panthar at large about 1 mile from the

Barracks & it has worried a dog & a

quantity of sheep, so to night we are

going to set a young goat as a trap to

see if we can’t have some sport. Big

game hunting. To day is one of the
