I think it better for him to go with me
rather than alone, so will let you know
which day to expect us. Elsie will come
later, she has some thoughts of going next
week and to see Wes, he wanted her to
come for Whitsen, but we had already
fixed for Longford. I have made a promise
to take you to Longford when you are on
furlough so don't engage all your time.
If fine we must have an afternoon & evening
reception for you on the lawn, to save you
the jag of going the round. It will be
jolly if Wes can come same time. His
tongue will do the wag. He writes
yds & yds, is having a fine time in
the quire of the Rectory Grounds
You will be sorry to know Frank is
wounded. did Elsie tell you? No
particulars through Feb. We hope it
may not be serious. Anne will be
very worried until she has details.
The last letter from Fred was dated
May 8th so if comes that was long before
left side
and he was still at Canteen.
A letter from Stan on Friday tells us
he has passed the exams successfully.
145 mark, for theory out of 150 so he did
well. He is to stay at the Signalling Sch
as Assistant Instructor under the title of
Acting Lance Corporal. (unpaid). Hope he
wont have a swelled head, but we are
very pleased at his success and glad
he will be away from the danger line.
I wonder if your letters from France will
ever get to you. Perhaps some one of your
Platoon will send them home here for
you. I hope some one opened the Pcl
before contents got too stale.
Friday Eve I posted you a little cake
hope it wont prove too heavy but the
... is in the flour it is almost
useless for cakes & pastry. in fact we
are not supposed to make such luxuries
but I say if we eat cake etc we use
less bread & its a change. Elsie has
