seeking to find signs of growth in my onion bed and their
rows of beetroot, turnips & carrots, beans, short rows
of course, which are jealously guarded and zealously
watered - what proper crops will be reaped time will
show! but hope looms very big, and anticipation is some
reward for the outlay of a few pence anyhow.
I guess you also if the same weather is with you, feel
the fag of the bright sunshine without any shade, and we
are wondering if the bivi is capable of doing duty as
protection when a leisure moment comes whilst the sun
is hot. Anyhow it's better, far better, than cold & wet, which
gives one the blues and chaps ones fingers etc. I've not got
rid of mine altogether, I've had some very painful ones this
week which I put down to cleaning out the cistern & putting
a bit of paint into a crack in the roof guttering
and using some strong hudsons soap to get my hands clean
again, which stuff always seems to harden up my skin.
Are yours all healed up yet and the "septic heel" which
by the way you really did not reveal to us but came through
Frank Barton. I felt a bit jealous when I read his
letter which you sent home which revealed more than
you had told to us. Dear boy, don't hide anything from
us! We would rather share it with you by entering
into all your experiences - by the way have you discovered
if you are anywhere near Willie Hammond. Frank
