came across a lot of Womens clothing

up here I expect that was when the German

advanced the women run up here to change

in there Best before they left it was a

sight to see what was left of the rooms

and furniture as this was april 1915

some of our Fellows were billeted in

these Rooms and slept in the Broken

Beds and there were some very good

Furniture which had not been knocked

about so much even clocks in

going order you could look out of

your bedroom window and see our

Front line trenches  and the German

line and it was a Fine sight at

night when they were Bombarding to

watch the Shells Burst and the

Shrapnell we were here 4 Days and

then our turn came to go up the line

which we were lining up to get

ready for our march to the Line we

saw our Company First Casualty

come down on a stretcher for  Barial

he had stopped a sniper Bullet too

...  to have a look over the top

in Daylight curious enough he was

the First name on the company Roll

as his name comenced with  ac and

the Quarter Master said to me well

Worry your Lucky as Fritz is going

to Kill us in Alphabetacle order

and you are about the Last to go so

your alright anyway it was the First
