  although we had a shower during this

  morning's parade. The general came round

  to have a look at us  + seemed fairly

  pleased at what he saw. This afternoon

  I had a good long ride on Sally - partly

  on duty but mostly for pleasure.

  When I got back I had a good bath 

  + change. My two subs had gone out

  working so I set +  waded through

  a huge batch of letters that were in

  the censored. It gets very monotonous

  when one has done thirty or forty

  but it's a job that must be done 

  or else the people at home would

  grumble. Mayor Dean has just

  come in + requires my attention

  so I am going to stop now

  send this off by post as a 

  first installment & wire a letter 

  later on.
