My Own Darling Wife,
I must write a few lines
before going to feed. I have had a good
long ride across country plus a walk
to look over the new position which we
are taking over to-morrow night. It
doesn't look too bad considering that
it is part of the front line. I feel
a lot better for the rest + it has been
a good rest from the mental
strain. We have had lovely
weather all the time and it appears
to be so settled that we may be
fortunate for some time longer.
I hear the mail has arrived so
perhaps there will be another
welcome letter for me. My new
home will not be quite so cosy
as this is but I think it will
be possible to keep dry +
warm in it when not on duty
