  Dear Kenneth,

               Mummy will have to read
  

  this letter to you but it is

  really yours to thank you for

  that lovely parcel you sent.

  I don't know how you managed

  it but you sent just the

  things that I wanted. I am

  having a very good time now

  right behind the line, where

  war seems a very peaceful game.

  The weather is delightful and it

  is a real treat to be living

  above ground instead of a

  hole in the earth. My present

  home is a very funny little 

  house. From the side it looks 

  just like a small mound

  of earth. From the front

  you can just see the top

  of the door + the stove pipe
