My own darling wife,
I did not write yesterday
as there was no chance of getting a
letter away. I received your cake &
mince pies safely. Ta very much. The
pies have gone but the cake is still
intact as we had so many on the
go, all having received parcels. However
there are strong indications that it
will come in most useful today.
The weather has been much better the
last few days and the land is drying
well. We are having a very interesting
time at present, perhaps I'll be able
to tell you about it when next we
meet. The days & nights pass away
in their turn but there is nothing to
mark the days. I did not know
yesterday was Sunday until late in
the day. We have rested for seven
days - that is from duty in the front
