  My Own Darling Wife

              We leave here early tomorrow
  

  for our next halting place and after one

  night there move into the line. I have had

  a lazy day today - stayed in my comfortable

  bed until mid day - just so that I shall

  be able to remember what a bed is like.

  To morrow night I shall spend in a

  dug out which I trust will be deep 

  enough to keep out the shells if the

  Huns be silly enough to send them

  there. I got a short note from ...

  tonight. posted on the 28th but none

  of yours have turned up yet. Nearly

  all of us are in the same plight

  I hope you have received some of

  mine before this else you will

  have been worried a bit.

              Hope you are both keeping
  

  A1 and finding plenty to do

  There was a long list of "mentioned"
