  My Own Dearest Wife,

    We have arrived safely on 
  

  this side after a short train journey 

  and a comfortable time on the boat.

  I turned into my bunk shortly

  after eight o'clock was asleep

  in half an hour & woke for

  a short time about 1 am. Dee

  did very well as regards

  dinner & breakfast. We expect

  to move off during the day

  & shall have a long time in

  the train. I expect you will

  be getting near W. London now

  & I trust you will have a 

  pleasant journey. The men are

  very cheerful & seem to be

  very pleased that they have

  at last been allowed to come

  over & do this "bit." One can

  hardly realize that one is out
