37We have also seen a lot in the papers
about not sending pcls parcels to soldiers -
but there has been nothing official
yet, so must get you off another
cake before the notice comes. Of
course you know we are rationed with
Bread, jam and sugar so I
may have to send smaller cakes
still so long as possible you will
get a share.
I thought Dad told you last week
about Will Cooper & Lockhart but find
he didn't - perhaps he didn't quite catch
what Mr. Carrington said. W. Cooper
is in England with leg wounds (not
serious) & Lockhart also with a smasheed
ankle. I daresay Mr. C. will write & give
you full particulars.
I asked Frank about your tobacco
pouch, but he said he had settled it
with you & would not let me pay him
46about the "Lobster & Tomato Paste", for
we had not tried it. I posted you
another pcl on Tuesday, expect
you have it by now, hope the cucumber
was palatable , could not very well send
vinegar, sorry I forgot the eggs - I
had meant to boil them just
after tea, then went out & quite
forgot. Will send them next time
should have sent them long ago
but was afraid you would think
them bad if a dark colour -
however I hear if I plunge them
into cold water when boiled they
keep their colour so you shall
have some - Then you know
they will be quite alright if
you like to hot them up again
