He has been busy all the week so
the fresh air & change of scene (even
an allotment) will do him good -
Our seeds are alive and onions
turnips carrots & beetroot coming
up galore - shall have to get up
each mornings to thin out later on.
We have started to count the beans
as they come through, but only four
are through yet - Uncle John came
over on Thursday, from all
accounts he has packed every inch
of his ground with all kinds of
veg. seeds. The baby was christened
on Sunday last & is called Ian
Kenneth, they have now gone back
to Ilford and the Canadian trip
is postponed till after the War.
Yesterday we had a visit from
left side, page 3 of letter
The Fulham family . They tell us
young Bert has now been passed
into A 1 and is training in the Infantry
He wears a scotch cap with string, has
a new number & been moved to another
place near Cromarty Bay - Frank
alright but like you roughing it
very much - He says he has seen
Fred & he is out of the canteen &
back with his unit - A relation
of Uncle Charlie's (through marriage) has
been awarded the Military Cross for
bravery at Vimy Ridge last October
They all (the Darcyites) send love &
best wishes to you.
Stan writes that he will be moving from
the Signalling Sch. sooner that expected
he is alright, except for a cut on his
foot which he was unlucky enough to
get when bathing in a stream, it is
