thinks you are, but I hardly think your first battalion
would come close up to you for work. Many thanks for
the field cards this week, and also your letter of the 7th
glad to know alls well with you, hope however if you
remain close to the big gun use will become quickly a
second nature & you will be able to make the thunder &
shake of their discharge a lullaby to soothe your slumber
a big order says you eh? Mother is constantly telling
me the guns are going all the morning, which mean
the occasion testing of them at the arsenal, what she
would say if close to them as you are and with so
many going I don't know! Hope you got the papers
all right I sent you. Would have sent more but
the days slipped by and I did not go out to get
postal wrappers, in fact I've hardly left the warehouse
all the week long. folks I think are anxious to get a stock
in hand, fearful of obtaining supplies, I suppose. Our
demand however will fall off with warm weather I guess
- as other years, and I may get a few leisure hours to
relax in.
Have you heard from Wes - as usual he trys to whet
our curiosity - something has happened to bring him into
notoriety - what it is we are not told - as he says
some are borned great, some have achieved greatness &
some have greatness thrust upon them" The first I can
