My Own Darling Wife
I hope there has not been a
very long break between letters but
we have had rather a busy time these
last few days. We are now back from
the line for rest + training. We left
the line at 2 am + I managed to get
rather a long sleep that day from
8 am to 3 pm. Our new village is
in a much better state of repair
and many of the houses are still
standing. We have a very good house,
a mess room + a bed room for
each of the three of us. We all
have spring mattresses & there are a
certain number of chairs, tables &c.
so we have nothing to grumble at
in fact we have "struck oil" this
time. Unfortunately my men are not
so well off but I hope to get
better quarters for some of them tomorrow
